Creating Your Own Beauty

Canon 5DMkIII, Canon TS-E 24mm, 3 sec at f/11, ISO 100.

I thought I’d have a little fun in Photoshop  while editing this photo and give it a little bit more atmosphere than in the original image. I used a technique to give the image the appearance of “god beams” … rays of light coming in through the fog (which wasn’t there). I used some of my own methods, along with a tutorial over on the NAPP site by Corey Barker … but you can find many different ways to do this just with a quick Google search.

For those who don't want to spend thousands on Photo Shop and it's sidekicks and updates….etc, this same kind of effect can be achieved with very inexpensive software.

There's a small coppice by me and I often get up in the morning hoping there's a light mist to accompany the golden sunrise…. I've had a similar image to yours in my head for a while waiting for those conditions….maybe you've just inspired me to photograph it anyway and modify it in PS. :)

Digital photography editing, if you didn't capture that photo the way you present it then it is a fraud.  Keep photography true.  Photography is about freezing a moment in time.  NOT editing it.
