I photographed this image a few months ago at Ruckel Creek Falls along the Columbia River Gorge with +Brian Matiash and +David Daniels. The CRG is my new favorite spot … I just want to go and build a little log cottage somewhere alongside a hidden waterfall and enjoy the fresh air (along with the wonderful peace and quiet you get out there as well). I think that’s my new dream-home location. :)

This is my post for  #waterfallwednesday , curated by the great +Eric Leslie.

Nice! You don't see narrow DOFs in landscape photography very much. This has got me thinking about autumn coming up!

+Eric Leslie That would be a little bit of +onOne Software (FocalPoint) to add the shallow DOF. :)

Nice, I can usually "feel" when it's done in post, but this looks totally natural.

Great composition…  Reminds me of Silver Creek Falls; just South of CRG.  Thanks for sharing.

but if YOU build one, there, and I build one there, and Matiash, and…  it'll be crowded!  Beautiful place, for sure.  Have you been into Oneonta Falls?

+J. Forrest Hale Not yet (don't think … went to a few falls with the Patels and wasn't sure the names of all of them). When I move out to PDX I plan on visiting the CRG at least weekly in the spring/summertime, and I'm sure Oneonta will make the list of falls to photograph.

Gorgeous! I always feel a little like I’m bragging when I tell people I live in the Gorge. My photographer friends and I go waterfall hunting when our kids are in school. :) One thing I love about the Gorge is there are always new pockets to discover. I’ve lived in and around the Gorge my whole life, and this is the first I’m hearing of Ruckel Creek Falls. I’ll have to check it out!
