So, it’s “un-officially offical”, but later this year I’ll be packing up and moving to Seattle! It’s “official” because I am 100% sure that I’m moving there, and “un-official” because it’s too far out to make any of the logistical arrangements, like finding an apartment and hiring movers (as of right now it looks like it will be happening around September or October). I gave myself a few solid months to really think about it, and I’m super, super excited for this change in my life … it just “feels” right, ya know?

I’ve been in Utah for almost two years now, in a very transitional period of my life and I have nothing “grounding” me to this location, so I’m ready to move on. My job(s) also allow me to live wherever I want (as long as I have a computer and the internet) so I’m taking advantage of that and going somewhere new. I’ll miss my friends here in Utah, but I’m sure I’ll be back around from time to time to say hello.

Just thought I’d share the news with you guys, so if you’re in (or near) Seattle let me know! I’d love to meet up with the photographers after I’m settled later in the year.

Congrats on the move we will miss you here. Seattle is lucky to have you. It’s a great town with lots of good people. I visit at least once a year. :)

I live on the “Eastside”–across Lake Washington–from Seattle. It’s a wonderful place. Too bad you won’t get here until September or October. We have lovely fall color but the rain starts in about that time and you will have missed the glorious long dry sunny days of summer.

There are a lot of photographers around here and I look forward to having you join all of us.

Did you mean to say. “long dry sunny day of summer”?

I’m sure I’ll stick around long enough to see the summer :) It would be great to move earlier but I want to avoid the “summer rush” of movers.

Congrats, Nicole! I envy you being able to pick up and move wherever your heart takes you! I’ve never been to Seattle, but it seems to be a very culturally and creatively rich area and I hope you will really be happy there.

As mentioned earlier, the rainy season starts in about early Oct. However, there are still many opportunities to do some great photography both in and around the city. I live far North of the city, but always find time to come to Seattle for the many cultural events and treats that can be found there. We Northwesterners would welcome you to the area. I look forward to joining you and others in some of the photo walks and workshops that take place in the Seattle area.

That is SOOO exciting Nicole! I’m trying to get to the point where I can be self employed and be able to live where I want instead of “where the jobs are.” Seattle will be a better city with you in it.

That’s my old stomping grounds, so I am envious! We will miss having you in Utah, but it’s great that you are taking advantage of your independence to make the move to somewhere new. As has been mentioned, be ready for the rain, but aside from that you will love the beauty that Seattle area offers!

Im glad you are happy about moving,

Ah Seattle, the home of stock photography! This is clearly a career-oriented move. ;)

    Enjoy it.

No, not really. Just a place I’ve always wanted to check out. I’ll still be doing the same work I do in Utah, just surrounded by different buildings and people. :)

Good luck in Seattle! I’ve always enjoyed my visits to that area. BUT, you still need to come to Lincoln next fall to shoot Ohio State at Nebraska Oct 8!

Well, here’s an early welcome to the neighborhood. I just started reading your blog, so I’ll keep an eye on it and hope to meet you here sometime. People either do or do not love our climate, and it will only take a year or so to figure out which type you are!
