First Studio Shoot

Canon 7D, Canon 24-105 ƒ/4L IS lens, 1/60 sec at ƒ/4.5, ISO 160

Today I used my studio for the first time and put together a food setup (pasta). I have North-facing windows on the front of the room which is perfect light for this type of photography. Everything went smoothly … I even went out this afternoon to get a compact fridge for the storage area so I can store my miscellaneous food items in-between shoots. :)

Here’s a photo of the setup I used for the above shot. The lighting is diffused natural window-light to the right with a silver reflector on the left. To mount the fork I attached a Manfrotto Magic Arm to a small light stand and clamped the fork on to the extended arm. I then stuck the pasta on the fork and added the sauce and garnishes after it was all in place.

    Awesome setup, congrats on finally reaching the point of usability on the new studio. Hope you get the iPad in time too… Photo looks delicious!
