The temples at the Angkor Wat complex are extremely fascinating. Just this morning +Brian Matiash and I visited Praeh Kahn temple, which has a huge tree completely engulfing one of the walls of the temple. It’s amazing that one tree can do so much damage to an extremely solid structure made completely of stone.

  14. Don't think that we, human beings, have all the power and can control everything. Nature rules.

For the photo, beautiful details and color, but the sun distracts to much for me.

Thanks for showing your photo and story.

  22. Looks like scenario from Tomb Raider. Great.

  23. Erkki Juurus says:

    "Nature attacks?"

Wouldn't a more accurate title be "Nature reclaims?"
After all, it was the humans who 'attacked' the forest, the home of the trees, with their stone monuments in the first place, and not the other way around. ;-)

  24. Right, the photo is fascinating, still there's much more mystery about the place than trees engulfing stones. They speculate who could build egyptian pyramids or fortress of Ollantaytambo, Angkor Wat should be on the same list.

  28. Nice photo. Makes a change to see someone state how they processed the image rather than pretend is untouched. We need this sort of honesty in the age of digital images.

  50. I always enjoy your posts supported with exquisite photography  on varied nature the experience of which you seem to derive from your exclusive outings. Nature that gives us life has its violent aspects too. In your photo the tree looks like an old, angry giant who has stout long legs that ravish the walls of the temple as it marches forward.

  52. Brian Thomas says:

Preah Kahn was my favorite temple. This is a superb angle. Shooting into the sun here was certainly something I didn't think of.

+Brian Thomas Have you seen the temples in Burma? Very similar but not as well known, both of great Indian influence.
