Nikon D200, Nikon 24-70 lens, 1/80th sec at f/2.8, ISO 100
Photographed on July 18, 2009
I take a lot of photos of people, and this image was a quick shot I took of my good friend Rich at the Worldwide Photowalk in July. But even though it didn’t take much setting up or preparation, there are so many things about this image that I like … sometimes the best portraits are the ones you didn’t know you were going to take. :) It’s a genuine expression, there is a nice soft light on his face, I really like the catchlights in his eyes and there’s even a nice hair-light in the back. You just gotta love natural lighting … it’s the best light there is!

I love the B&W treatment on this shot, in addition to the lovely light. Gotta love the sun!
Great natural shot … and you are right about the natural lighting, it sure is the best light there si : )
